Instructor Courses
The AHA Instructor Training Course is a 3
part process.

Part 1 - The Core Instructor Course. This part of the course is completed
online with the use of a workbook. It takes about 6 to 8 hours and must be completed
before attending Part 2.
Part 2 - Discipline Specific Training
Orientation. This part
of the course is completed in an approximate 8 hour classroom session with other Instructor
candidates to become familiar with the AHA course options, materials,
equipment, outlines, and teaching methodology. You will also demonstrate your
ability to correctly and effectively perform CPR and use the AED. It is important that these potential instructors purchase the discipline specific instructor manual and review all material prior to the course.
Part 3 -
Training
Center
Affiliation and Monitoring/Mentoring. To complete the Instructor Training program, you must affiliate
with a Training Center (TC), meet with the TC coordinator to discuss specific
TC administrative policies and procedures, and then be monitored by a TC
Faculty member while teaching your first class.
An AHA
Instructor card will not be issued until all parts have been successfully
completed.
Please note that for any of courses, you must have completed the AHA Core Instructor Course (self-directed textbook & CD) prior to the course date! Below are upcoming instructor courses.
Don't see a date listed or one that will work for you? Check back frequently as these courses are offered several times per year. As always, contact the Training Center with further questions. Click the "Contact Us" link on the top of the page.
